Pasadena Heritage Pub Crawl – September 28, 2019: Experience the history of some famous and infamous Pasadena watering holes and haunts on Pasadena Heritage’s Historic Pub Crawl. This guided walking tour of Pasadena’s original downtown includes stops at pubs distinctive for their history, architecture, and spirits. Tour-goer’s can delight in beer tastings plus little-known facts and forgotten lore–a great way to get to know historic Old Pasadena. Los Angeles Chocolate Salon – September 29, 2019: The 13th annual Los Angeles Chocolate Salon event features the ﬁnest artisan, gourmet and premium chocolate. Sample and discover new and original chocolate ﬂavors. Pop Katoons: Kids Entertainment Festival – October 5-6, 2019: POP Katoons 2019 is the new fun-packed festival for kids and parents that celebrates the magic of entertainment under one roof. The weekend event will immerse children into a world of experiences in which they can play, discover new passions, learn skills, and be creative. Pasadena ArtWalk – October 12, 2019: Pasadena ArtWalk is Pasadena’s largest urban art fair with over 5,000 people attending yearly. This event is known to highlight some of the best Southern Californian visual artists showcasing their work in painting, sculpture, watercolor, photography, mixed media, ceramics, jewelry, drawings, and print making. The 14th Annual Pasadena ArtWalk features a juried art show and sale, public art walking tour, free and reduced museum admission, hands-on activities, exclusive dinning deals, and live music. Methodist Hospital Foundation 30th Crystal Ball Celebration – October 12, 2019: The Methodist Hospital Foundation will host its 30th Crystal Ball Celebration – “Celebrate Good Times”, an evening with Kool & The Gang. The celebration will honor Mike and Patty Nijjar on October 12, 2019 at the Pasadena Convention Center. The Crystal Ball will support the addition of a second bi-plane imaging system to enhance Methodist Hospital’s ability to serve the greater San Gabriel Valley as a fully accredited Comprehensive Stroke Center and STEMI Receiving Center.
Over the years, Crystal Ball has evolved into an annual fundraising gala that has become the top social event of the year in the San Gabriel Valley. Crystal Ball has generated more than $9.1 million to support such hospital programs as the Rehabilitation Unit, Cardiac, Stroke, Emergency Services, Women’s Services, and the Next Generation of Care Campus Transformation. https://www.methodisthospital. org/Foundation/Special-Events/Crystal-Ball.aspx
Latino Heritage Parade and Festival – October 19, 2019: The Latino Heritage Parade and Festival is a celebration of Latino history, arts, and culture. The event begins with a colorful parade, followed by a celebration of cultural activities including food music and dance. The City of Pasadena sponsors this event and The Pasadena Latino Heritage Committee is responsible for overall in planning and organizing this event, estimated to have an attendance of 1,500 people in Villa Park.
This year’s Grand Marshal for the parade is Laura Farber, the ﬁrst Latina Woman elected as Tournament of Roses President for the 2019-2020. In addition to her many years of service in the Tournament of Roses, she has volunteered in various non-proﬁt organizations worldwide, including the American Bar Association. Dr. Cynthia Olivo will be the Community Grand Marshal, a longtime advocate for minority, low income and ﬁrst-generation college students. Dr. Olivo is Pasadena City College’s Vice President of Student Services, serving 30,000 diverse students. http://www. pasadenalatinoheritageparade. org/
Old Pasadena Halloween Celebrations – October 20-31, 2019: The whole family will have a frightfully good time at the Old Pasadena Halloween Celebration. Enjoy festivities such as the annual Pumpkin Decorating Extravaganza and a movie screening. Fun Halloween festivities will be provided for little ones to enjoy. Carved at Descanso Gardens – October 23-27, 2019: For ﬁ ve evenings only, 1,000 hand-carved pumpkins—some as large as 100 pounds—will line a path through the Camellia Forest, just in time for Halloween. Old Pasadena Day of the Dead – November 1-3, 2019: Celebrate Old Pasadena Day of the Dead with three days of family events.The celebrations include a tour of beautiful altars created by dozens of Old Pasadena businesses. These altars will be showcased for guests to admire during the self-guided Tour of Altars. The Day of the Dead Weekend will be ﬁlled with a salsa dance party, calavera face painting, and more. 42nd Occasional Pasadena Doo Dah Parade – November 24, 2019: An irreverent answer to the traditional Tournament of Roses Parade. Offbeat humor and wacky ﬂ oats from wacky entries make their way down Colorado Blvd.
