Spring is in full bloom! With that corny pun put aside, I must say that the best part of spring aside from the weather is the idea that a new season is arriving. A new season can bring new challenges, but also new miracles. To be honest, I know I struggle with always wanting to prove myself in every facet. not just to make my family proud, but to do it for myself. I feel at peace knowing that when you go through trials, the reasoning behind it is not always for you but sometimes for other people. For example, you do not know if overcoming an obstacle is inspiring someone else to do the same. Just seeing you accomplish a feat with God’s grace, you are inspiring someone else to the same. If you can dig deep enough to change the way you think, then you can change the way you approach things. Not everything is the end of the world, yet we still treat is as such. There is nothing wrong with taking on too much, because God never gives you more than you can bear. Actively plan to be at least three steps ahead when you are facing adversity. Let me be even more concise, people are not always the nicest and will take advantage of you if you give them the chance. People can be like steamrollers in human form. With this being said, they will walk right over people who act like a doormat. If you are always three steps ahead, you will not be run over if you are confi dent in who you are. People that can be domineering are not just your enemies. Friends can at time be this way as well if you are the friend who is always following along with everyone else; then you are probably the same friend who caves or buckles to whatever the “group think” is if you never put your foot down.
Speaking from experience, I used to be very timid and hated confrontation. Because of this, in certain situations I would choose to suffer in silence. Now, this is no way to live your life. Sooner or later, you will get sick of being the “nice guy” and finally pushback. Now, I am not advocating violence or walking over other people. I am just saying you should stand up for yourself and never let anyone else think for you.
