The words, “Go Back Where You Came From”, are a famous refrain of white racists, including the Ku Klux Klan. Now they have been stated by the President of the United States of America, Donald J. Trump. He spoke these words to four Congresswomen of color, Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Ilhan Omar (D-MN), Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), and Ayanna Pressley (D-MA). They are actually all American citizens. Three are born in America and are from Chicago, Puerto Rico and New York (Bronx). One (Ilhan) was brought here by her parents who were fleeing from war torn Somalia. She became an American citizen in high school in the 60’s. Does Trump expect these women to return to the cities of their birth? How senseless can he be?
Where was Melania born? What about her parents? According to a recent Los Angeles Times article, Melania was born in Slovenia, in a town she has not visited publicly since becoming Trump’s third wife. Born Melania Knaus, she changed her name to Melania Knauss. It’s clear that Trump’s just saying these things to get the attention of the racist Republicans, but he also gets the attention of the rest of us. The recent statements remove all doubt as to whether Trump is a racist. He is! If you don’t believe it, think about Charlottesville. Think about saying Obama was from Kenya. Think about The Central Park Five who would have been executed, if Donald Trump had his way.
It’s not so much about Trump but about McConnell, Graham, and other do nothing Republicans. And now the head anti-Muslim, Mexican hater is using blatant racist language to frighten people and excite his racist base. The four Congresswomen, called The Squad, held a press conference to oppose Trump’s attack on them.
They warned us by saying, “Don’t take the bait.”
We all need to not be sidetracked by Trump’s tactics, but keep on pushing forward, as we have been doing since, however, we got here. We must keep on fi ghting while we respond to Trump’s racism. We must keep on fighting for reparations, equality, the right to vote, the right for criminal justice, civil justice, equality of urban housing, Farmer’s rights, educational opportunities, healthcare, and equal rights to an Attorney, and business opportunities, and more.
It is dangerous to concentrate too much of your time on Trump. He’s not worth it. Each of us need to spend our time on our lives, unless you are writing a book on Trump’s life, like Joy Reid’s book, The Man who Stole America.
Trump has a new and well deserved name, “Racist.“ This comes after making the statement that four new Congresswomen should go back to where they came from. All the women were elected to represent Americans.
To Donald Trump: your fear is showing. America is Browning and Blackening. Soon you will be in the minority. Of course we won’t be able to tell you to go back to where you came from because we don’t know where you came from, other than from hell. How would you like it if we told Melania to go back to where she came from?
