Goodman, Schwerner and Chaney, Viola Liuzzo, Carol Robertson, Cynthia Wesley, Denise Mc Nair and Addie Mae Collins, the four little girls in Sunday school at the 16th Street Baptist Church on September 15, 1963, the NAACP President Medgar Evers and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. were all killed. They died fighting for us to have the right to vote. Thousands more lost their lives, jobs, and more so all Americans could vote. In a few months, it will our turn to honor their lives and sacrifice and utilize the vote. We must exercise our right to vote!
We have come from slave ships, to poor houses, to the presidency. We must vote to keep the privileges that so many have died for. This is not like freedom summer, where we boarded busses and rode through states to insure the right and privilege to go to school. It is a freedom summer where we must exercise our right to vote to make sure that the privileges of being black is not a reason to deny our rights. We must exercise our right to vote!
We don’t need a president who says we have low intelligence because we are black. We don’t need a president who tells us how to protest or lose our jobs. We must vote to get something better. We deserve better than the current president whose program is to deny and recall all rights and privileges gained when we had a Black president in office. Voting is the route to a better way, a better life and a better America. We must exercise our right to vote!
We deserve a president who doesn’t tell us a new lie every day, who spends time with prostitutes, or who spends time pretending to provide an education in a fake college designed to get your money. We don’t need a president that thinks Nazi sympathizers and white supremacists are a valid alternative to the American way, or a president who believes that walls and cages are the best way to govern and preserve our rights. This is not what we need. We must exercise our right to vote!
We don’t need a president who, while committing crimes, wants to lock up the opposition. We don’t need a guy who fi res someone who after dedicating his/her life to working for the government the day before their retirement is to begin, or a guy who fires someone because they declare loyalty to the United States of America and refuses to declare loyalty to him, personally. We must exercise our right to vote and vote Trump out!
We don’t need a so- called “leader” who thinks there is a proper way to protest, his way. We don’t need a President who says judges who are of a particular ethnicity can’t judge accurately, and who mocks a handicapped person and makes fun of them to a national audience. We don’t need a president who says a hero is not someone who was captured like Senator McCain, but who seeks deferment after deferment for himself to keep from serving in the countries’ military.
The list goes on and continues on by this president with no integrity, no morals, and no true governing skills. He is dangerous to America and the world. He embraces our historical enemies like Russia while denigrating our allies who have fought and died for us like Canada, Mexico and Great Britain. If you don’t vote we will stay in the hell he has placed us in, or worse.
The freedom right and privilege is a two way street. You can vote for a progressive, forward thinking leader or one who takes us backward. Voting is a right and privilege you can’t ignore because elections have consequences. When the time comes to vote, exercise your right and vote. The price many have paid has been too high to ignore it.
VOTE! VOTE! VOTE!
