Los Angeles Based Attorney, Ylianna Perez-Guerrero and Supply Frame CEO, Steve Flagg
Were Formally Approved as Members of the Kidspace Board of Directors
Pasadena, CA (November 25, 2013) – This November, Kidspace Children's Museum officially welcomed Ylianna Perez-Guerrero and Steve Flagg as the newest members of its Board of Directors. Perez-Guerrero is a Los Angeles Based attorney and Flagg is a local businessman and investor. With the addition of Perez-Guerrero and Flagg the Board increases to 19 active members. This year also saw the addition of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory Legislative Liaison, Patty Rhee and Oakwood School Director of Advancement, Emily Laskin to the Kidspace Board.
Ylianna Perez-Guerrero has spent the last 10 years as an attorney in Los Angeles working in the areas of immigration, citizenship, and residency. "Having lived and worked in Los Angeles for the last decade, raising a family of my own, I understand how important organizations like Kidspace are for our children. I am proud to lend my voice and perspective to help guide this amazing organization into the future," said Perez-Guerrero.
Steve Flagg is the founder and CEO of the Pasadena-based company, Supply Frame, an industry leader in electronic hardware innovation. In addition to his role at Supply Frame, Flagg is also on the Board of Directors at Innovate Pasadena, an organization that seeks to create a vibrant ecosystem of technology and design innovation in the greater Pasadena area that supports sustainable economic growth. Steve Flagg's wife, Stephanie Flagg, served as a member of the Circle of Friends, the volunteer group that helps fund raise for the Museum, from 2003 to 2008. "Kidspace has always been a special place for our family. As a parent and member of the Pasadena business community, I am truly excited to be a part a team that is so dedicated to inspiring the next generation with a love of learning and creating," said Flagg.
The addition of these new members comes just after Kidspace opened its newest exhibit experience, Imagination Workshop, to the public. This unique and innovative space offers guests of all ages the opportunity to assemble, dismantle, and repurpose all manner of materials and objects. The experience inside the Imagination Workshop is open ended, inviting participants to engage with daily or weekly building projects or to simply gather materials and tinker. Located in the southeast corner of The Robert's Pavilion, Imagination Workshop is the second exhibit to be funded by The Campaign for the Future of Kidspace, a $13 million capital campaign announced in May of 2012, to build new exhibits, upgrade existing learning environments, improve guest amenities, and develop new curriculum and programs. The addition of Perez-Guerrero and Flagg will bring fresh insight into how the Museum implements its exhibit master plan and assess how it can best meet the needs of the community and move into the future.
