Black news from Pasadena - Religion - Father's Day Celebration Service with guest speaker Dr. Mark CrearRev. Dr. Mark Crear is not only an anointed man of God, but also a two-time Olympic medalist, entrepreneur, motivational speaker, consultant, published author, ordained minister, Christian counselor and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.).

This USC alumnus, first captured attention by winning the 1996 Olympic Silver Medal with a broken arm and the 2000 Olympic Bronze Medal with a double hernia. Mark has been around the world preaching the gospel, presenting keynote and inspirational messages to various churches and organizations.

Mark's unique way of using his Olympic experience as a hurdler to illustrate how to overcome hurdles and Stay in the Zone is biblically based, encouraging, motivating, educational, yet therapeutic. Mark reminds us that HURDLES are inevitable part of life. His message is not about conquering the Hurdles; it's about getting over them. You will leave with a new perspective on dealing with the "Hurdles" in your life!

 

 

Free Ministry Training Program

Pasadena, CA (July 8th – 12th, 2013)

J. D. Institute is offering a Free Ministry Intensive Training Course this July 8th - 12th. The Ministry Summer Fellowship at J. D. Institute is a weeklong intensive training program geared toward Pastors, Ministers, Missionaries, Evangelist and Lay Leaders in local congregations. This training program will help leaders develop ministry skills in actual clinical settings, combining the theory of Christian ministry with ministry practice.

Training will take place in group sessions, seminars, and at actual clinical sites. Learn the theory behind biblical interpretation, Christian theology and doctrine, and aspects of Christian ministry. How should Christian leaders engage in effective ministry in a 21st century social-political climate? This program will address such issues paying close attention to the historical development of the Christian Church from its inception through the development of the modern Black Church movement.

CHOOSE FROM TWO TRAINING MODULES

  • General Ministry Training – with extended clinical training
  • Black Church Studies – with extended clinical training

Intensives are supervised by Dr. Jamal-Dominique Hopkins, Director of J.D. Institute and Visiting Professor of Bible and Theology at Victory University in Memphis, TN. A 2010 Wabash Center Fellow, Hopkins has lectured and presented research at Princeton Theological Seminary, Emory University, the University of Edinburgh (Scotland) and at the W.E.B. DuBois Society at Harvard University. His most recent publication is Thinking Out Loud: Thoughts and Reflections on Life, Faith, Culture and Crisis (Journal Publication, 2013).  Hopkins is a former Biblical Studies Professor at the Interdenominational Theological Center (Atlanta, GA) and at Crichton College (Memphis, TN). A graduate of Howard University and Fuller Theological Seminary, he holds a Ph.D. in Religions and Theology from the University of Manchester (England).

Seeds From The Sower

They called him a miracle worker. It was a miracle every time he worked.

But he went to church and was so moved by the message that he went forward during the invitation and professed to be converted. His family and friends were delighted when he prayed: "Dear Lord, save me and use me to Your glory." Unfortunately, he added: "I'm available whenever You need me to provide guidance to others who need help and direction."

God does not need our advice, He needs our attention. He does not need our suggestions, He needs our service. He does not need our words, He needs our wills. He does not need our heads, He needs our hearts.
