The New Yorker magazine carried an interesting cartoon.
A herd of hogs had eagerly assembled for feeding. The farmer was busy filling the trough to the brim.
One pig suspiciously asked another, "Have you ever wondered why he's being so good to us?"
We never need to wonder about God's goodness. God is good to us because it is His nature to be good. He wants what is good for us and only what is good for us. We have His Word that says, "All things are working together for your good." Whatever is going on in our lives is for our good.
He comes to us not for what we can give Him, but for what He can give us.
He blesses us not because of who we are, but because of who He is.
He saves us not because of what we can do for Him, but for what He can do for us.
