Foundations Funding Voter Suppression Are New Klu Klux Klan Members

Black news from Pasadena - Editorial - Voter Suppression Are New Klu Klux Klan MembersThe history of this great country is littered with people and organizations who are dedicated to maintaining, or dare I say conserving, the way of life that guarantees the myth of White Supremacy. In the early days of this country, the Klu-Klux Klan and their cousins, the White Citizens Council, were formed to maintain the flame of supremacy. Today, the keepers of the flame are foundations and billionaires like the now infamous Koch Brothers and Vegas casino owner, Sheldon Adelson, and others of their ilk. This week, the Melissa Harris Perry show on MSNBC exposed two more keepers of the flame, The Einhorn Foundation and the Bradley Foundation. Blacks who flock to Las Vegas Sands should know that their their hard earned dollars are funding people and policies against their own self interests.

These foundations are funded by Steven and Nancy Einhorn and are the funding source behind voter intimidating billboards in Ohio and Wisconsin that announce that Voter Fraud is a Felony. Though the message on its face is race neutral, the billboards spouting the message were placed only in Black and Latino neighborhoods. Of course, white racists believe that all Blacks are felons anyway, having escaped from slavery.

Once again, the current efforts by the white supremacy promoters prove my daddy was right when he taught us that there are some whites who don't sleep at night trying to figure out new ways to keep Blacks down. My Daddy was not well educated, never having finished high school, but he could analyze what was happening around him and how to respond. He taught us well, and left his four children, 3 with college degrees, a family home that is now over fifty years old, some 20 plus years after his death.

He and my mother were my inspiration. The Journal was originally called Hoppies Journal, named for him. Hoppie was his nickname. The other message we were taught was, economic independence trumps poverty. If I can just make my life an inspiration for my three sons, then, to paraphrase the old spiritual, "My living shall not have been in vain."

On a broader level, if Black America was smarter, there would be family foundations to combat the Einhorns, the Bradleys, and the Kochs. For every action against our progress, there would be a counteraction. Counteractions like new schools named after the family patriarch, new organizations to develop jobs and career training, organizations to promote our culture and enhance our lost relations with the motherland, and churches run by men and women who are concerned with progressing us as God's people instead of private banks for their personal families.

Currently, we must concentrate on exposing who the new Klan members are so they can't accomplish their goal of promoting white supremacy at Black folks expense. A Mormon president in a diverse multicultural America? Really? What next, the rebirth of David Duke for Governor? At least Duke was transparent. And while we are exposing, be sure to expose which Blacks are pretending to be Black but by their actions are promoting the white supremacy agenda by keeping us dependent. By the way, kudos to MSNBC Melissa Harris Perry and Joy Reid of the NBC Grio for exposing the newest members of the modern day Klan.
