State of the Union Address
The state that our nation is in may be open for interpretation depending on the blinders that a certain individual may put on to glaze over the fact that the world is burning. You do not need to watch the news to know how the “we the people” narrative has derailed. It once was a patriotic battle cry reverberating in our souls. It has now turned into a soul shattering murmur permeating the American mind. One ponders as to what “people” in the Preamble of the United States Constitution the founding fathers were talking about. Minorities like myself know that certain rights and privileges are granted to those who are apart of the majority or those who bend over backwards to assimilate.
There is a difference between being an educated individual successfully navigating a 2018 America while being a minority or being a minority only by appearance and nothing else.
When you try to separate yourself from your own culture, you are cutting down the genius blueprint of your ethnicity. When speaking race and ethnicity its almost like a watermark. It can be faded but never erased no matter how hard the “powers that be” try and diminish its beauty and uniqueness. It will always be around as long as there are people who are willing to fight to see it survive.
This month, Independence Day was celebrated around the U.S.A. and I truly hope that you are in remembrance of the freedoms that you do have now, and do what you can to ensure that they stay your freedoms.
Here’s what you can do:
- If you are 18 or older, please register to vote and encourage your friends and family as well.
- Write any and all concerns to heads of Government like Senators, Governors, Mayors, and Congressman.
- Prayer never fails.
Jam 4 the Month: The Prayer by Andre Bochelli and Celine Dion
This song is a beautiful plea for God to be our eyes and watch over us.
