Have you ever felt trapped in a box? Locked in a cage, with no one to turn to? There are moments in life that feel like minutes even hours long. There are times where you can feel stuck, until you are not. The main idea is to look at the big picture, the big picture is that maybe you do not live life in any type of frame.
There are so many stereotypes that try and limit you and distract you from your purpose. People can try and keep you sequestered in an ideology they have for you. Just because people are not able to understand or conceive the way that you live life does not mean that you are doing anything wrong.
A lot of people have perceptions that they cannot pull away from. For example, say you are a person of color who is well-read, educated, interested in pursuing their dreams full force. People with a backwards way of thinking can feel threatened by this. The main thing to focus on is to keep up the hard work and let the work speak for itself. I know that me being homeschooled in grade school I was raised to be a free-thinker. I worked very hard at my studies, but I was blessed enough to be an individual who loved Barbra Streisand and Beyonce, and knew all about Civil Rights activists and organizations such as NAACP, SCLS, SNCC. Loving all things Marvel, and not shying away from documentaries, about environmental awareness; there is no right or wrong thing to be. You should be yourself, since everyone else is taken and no one can be you like you. My Acting Manager that I have had since I was 15 when I first moved to LA tragically passed away on Easter Sunday. It was so sudden and I am still coping with that loss. In hindsight, his words that he would always end our phone calls with will be etched in my mind forever: “Trust in The Journey.” That is what I want you to do too as I try to heed his advice as well.
