The five candidates for city council sat stoic and composed before a sparse diverse crowd at the Jackie Robinson Center.
They responded directly to questions by the audience through moderator Ana Garcia, NBC4, during a forum Sunday afternoon. There was no outright sparring among the five and neither seemed to veer into a controversial response.
Included on the podium were the hotly contested District 3 candidates Dr. Nicholas Benson, John Kennedy, and Ishmael Trone.
Also on stage were Victor Gordo, District 5 and Terry Tornek, District 7, both unopposed.
The Pasadena Latino Coalition sponsored this first-time event to give grass roots, community residents a chance to judge for themselves, even if the bright lines between candidates' positions were not stark.
On specific policy proposals, including affordable housing and minority access to city services, each seemed to offer similar ideas.
