I wish a holiday where Christ is or becomes the head of your lives. I wish a holiday where all your problems, and there will be problems, are small ones. I wish each of you a fulfilling life, a long life and one where you can see the products of your life, your careers, your spouse and your children make you proud.
After these holiday wishes are fulfilled what more can you want? Things? If your only wish is for more things then you may be on the wrong track.
When I am gone or just out of sight, I want it to be said that he was a brother who did good in the neighborhood. In the neighborhood you must do somebody good other than for yourself. There was a President who put people before himself. That was Barack Obama. Now we have a President whose ego is the only thing that needs to be satisfied. The selfishness doesn’t make him or keep happy. Nothing does. If it did, he wouldn’t wake up every morning, in Scrooge mentality, before the break of day tweeting about something wrong.
There is a song that says, “Make someone happy and you will be happy too”. It doesn’t get any simpler. Another song says simply, “Don’t worry, be happy “. Jesus went about the world making people happy, healing their illnesses and emotional wounds, and alleviating pain wherever he found it. He certainly did not go around waiting for people to help Him.
This holiday season, named for Christ, consider giving to a charity or a program or community organization built on helping others. If you give to family and/ or friends, you will be blessed with the success that helps them gain. I remember when I passed the bar examination, I owed my mother $2,500. She said that is your gift.
Giving is a blessing in itself when it is to someone you love. Hatred gives too, but they are not blessed by your hatred. I watched as Donald Trump paid out $25 million dollars to those who had believed one of his lies about their career possibilities if they attended his Real Estate School. I watched as he bragged about sexually harassing young women. In the long run, he will regret it and without a blessing. When you do good to others you will be proud and be blessed.
In a few days, our family will gather to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, share the blessings in our lives, give gifts, and have a good meal. We will all be more thankful and our lives will be more blessed. We will thank God for being good to us and we will return to the world thanking God and sharing our blessing with others for another opportunity to thank God.
I will end the way I started by saying, “Merry Christmas! Be Blessed!
