Lu C. Patterson is 13 but will turn 14 in early May. She shares a birthday with her twin sister, Mona.
Lu has traveled to many sights in the U.S. In fact, she celebrated her spring break traveling on a tour to Washington, D.C. Among her sights were the National Museum of African American History and Culture, The Kennedy Center, The Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial, the Dr. Martin Luther King Memorial, the Lincoln Memorial. On other occasions she visited Hawaii, Disney World in Florida and Louisiana, home of her grandparents, Willie and Annie Patterson of Altadena. Lu’s favorite school subjects are English and History. She is on the honor role at Sierra Madre Middle School and has a GPA of 3.73. She took second place at the LA County Science Fair this year and won an award in the Martin Luther King Essay Competition.
Lu is an artist in the mediums of drawing, painting and ceramics. She is a competitive swimmer and runs track. You go girl! She performed on a Kwanzaa program with her sister reciting African proverbs to a full audience. She is an avid reader which takes her to many places unknown. Her career choices include a marine biologist, actress and set designer. She enjoys watching TV including the Ellen Show and MSNBC. She attends New Revelation Baptist Church, participating in Sunday School classes and enjoys plays, musical programs and praise dance programs. Lu enjoys her favorites – pasta and garlic bread with tiramisu to top it off.
