Returning to School After Winter Break
How was your winter break? Did you travel, go on any adventures, sleep in everyday, or spend time with family and friends? Well Unfortunately all good times have to come to an end or pause at some point. It's time to get focused, and reacclimated to your school environment and schedule. But cheer up! It doesn't have to be so bad.
Begining a new semester can mean several things. Regretablly, maybe, you cannot go back in time to change what you may have done or failed to do, but if you are a college student and you didn't do so well in some of your classes, you have the chance to either re-take them with a fresh start or you can put the past behind you and vow to do much better in your new classes. For those in High School continuing with the same teachers, look at this as a chance to either continue all the good work you've been doing, or improve your behavior and/or academic performance.
Consider these tips on how to get back into a 'Positive' school mode:
- Set new, specific and realistic goals, such as bringing up a grade in a certain subject.
- Work out a schedule that's academically focused but also leaves space for rest, a job, leisure time to have fun, etc...
- Before starting school, give yourself a few days to allow your mind to switch back into school mode. Jumping from a fun vacation on Sunday to school on Monday is not in the plan for success.
It's a new year and January is "re" month. A month of re-viewing and re-modeling, re-investing and starting again, and that goes for every aspect of your life.
Happy New Year and let's have a successful semester!
