On Saturday September 23, 2017, the Black Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles, Inc. (BWL) will swear in its 2017-2018 ofﬁcers at its 42nd Annual Installation and Awards Dinner. The signature event will be held at Hotel Indigo in Downtown Los Angeles, starting with a reception beginning at 6:00 p.m.
This year ’s theme, “Following the Footsteps of Our Founders: Activism, Leadership, & Empowerment,” reﬂects BWL’s commitment to promoting and supporting women of color in the legal profession, and grooming the next generation of leaders.
Consistent with that theme, BWL will honor individuals and organizations exemplifying the Association’s commitment to promoting mentorship, service, and advocacy in the community. Among the honorees are Community Leadership Award, Shaun Robinson, Emmy-award winning journalist and founder of S.H.A.U.N. Foundation for Girls; Corporate Leadership Award, Sandra Williams, Esq., Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel, West Coast, CBS Television; and Judge of the Year, The Honorable Diana Becton, Superior Court Contra Costa County (Ret.). Leslie Sykes, acclaimed reporter, journalist, and co-anchor of the ABC7 Eyewitness News Morning Show and Eyewitness News at 11 a.m. will be Mistress of Ceremony.
