As part of our ongoing commitment to diversity, KCETLink and Union Bank are seeking nominations for women for the Local Heroes Awards during Women's History Month. If you know someone in KCET's 11 county broadcast area who is providing great leadership and making significant contributions to improve and enrich the lives of others and their community, we encourage you to go to KCET.org/heroes to review the guidelines and submit a nomination form. While on the KCET website, don't forget to view the 2013 Local Heroes.
Attached for your reference are the candidate nomination forms (submission guidelines, a past honoree listing and nomination form). The deadline for nominations is Friday, January 3, 2014.
The stories of two selected heroes will be broadcast on KCET as part of our Women's History Month celebration in March and at an awards ceremony in fall 2014.

The Madison Neighborhood Community, in partnership with Avalon Funeral Home and the Armory Center for the Arts, invites you to celebrate the holidays together as a community at this year's Madison Neighborhood/Avalon neighborhood posada.
Enjoy the music, food and activities; kids in attendance will get a chance to take a picture with Santa and receive a toy (while supplies last). This celebration is a fun experience for everyone and great way of bringing our community together.
A posada is a Latin American celebration reenacting Joseph and Mary's search for lodging.
This event needs your support - volunteers are needed to distribute toys, traffic control, organize volunteers, set-up/clean-up and distribution of fliers. Donations are also being accepted.

The public was invited to join Pasadena Mayor Bill Bogaard and the Pasadena/Foothills Chapter of the United Nations Association (UNA) to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the U.N. Declaration of Human Rights during International Human Rights Day from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 10 at the Pasadena Central Library, Donald R. Wright Auditorium, 285 E. Walnut Street.
Every year, communities throughout the world, including Pasadena, celebrate the anniversary of the Declaration of Human Rights adopted by the U.N. General Assembly on December 10, 1948. In Pasadena, this year's celebration featured videos, speakers and special exhibitors, all in keeping with the 2014 U.N. theme "International Year of Family Farming." The event is free and open to the public.
Mayor Bogaard provided the opening remarks, followed by a video featuring several Pasadena residents of diverse backgrounds, each reciting one of the 30 rights in the declaration.
