On Monday, March 3, 2014, the Zeta Rho Foundation announced the honorees for its 32nd Annual Salute & Scholarship Banquet. This year's Salute honorees are: Dr. John Wilson, President, Morehouse College; Darrell Brown, Sr. VP, US Bank; Byron K. Reed, Sr. VP, Wells Fargo Bank; and Anita Nelson, CEO, SRO Housing, Inc.
Dr. Wilson will receive the Scholarship Award for his diligent work in preserving the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King's alma mater, Morehouse College, in Atlanta, GA.
Mr. Reed will receive the Manhood Award for his long time support of education and mentoring programs for African American youth.
Mr. Darrel Brown will receive the Perseverance Award for his consistent leadership in making opportunities available to sectors of the community that are underserved with focus on our youth.
Ms. Anita Nelson will receive the Uplift Award for her creative solutions in expanding the housing stock for the indigent and homeless.
The honorees will receive their awards on June 7, 2014 at the Foundation's Annual banquet held at the California African American Museum.
[Zeta Rho Foundation is a 501(c) (3) non-profit public corporation that operates the Omega Youth Mentoring Program, the EE Just Marine Science Program and Science Academy and a Scholarship Program. The Salute & Scholarship Banquet is an annual celebration of achievement and hope. At the banquet, the Zeta Rho Foundation will award new and continuing scholarships to graduating high school seniors and continuing college students in their Zeta Rho Scholars Program. According to Foundation President Wayne Moore, "we want to recognize leadership and achievement as well as sow seeds and cultivate the hopes and dreams of our young black men and boys".
