Alpha Kappa Alpha Celebrates 25th Year of Fashionetta Scholarship Lunch with Host Rolonda Watts

African American news from Pasadena - News - Rolonda Watts to host FashionettaOn Saturday, May 11, 2013, Rolonda Watts will host Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Eta Lambda Omega Chapter's Fashionetta ® 25 The Silver Soiree: Celebrating a Legacy of Sophistication, Glamour and Service. The event is from 11:00am- 2:00pm at the Hilton Hotel in Glendale.

This year's Mistress of Ceremonies, Rolonda Watts, is the President and CEO of Watts Works Productions, and also an Emmy and Cable Ace Award-nominated journalist, talk show host, producer, actor, novelist, voice over artist, and motivational speaker. Ro began her career as a local CBS news reporter in Greensboro, North Carolina and has done extensive radio and television work with domestic and international exposure.

Eta Lambda Omega's Fashionetta ® is well-known within the Pasadena/Altadena and Greater Los Angeles communities as being the premier event of the season. The highlights include honoring a Mother of the Year, viewing a spectacular fashion show, networking, socializing and shopping.

This year's scholarship recipients attend John Muir, Marshall, Monrovia, Westridge and Flintridge Preparatory High School. Scholarships are being awarded in the areas of Math/Technology, Science/Health, Business /Entrepreneurship Young African American Male and Most Improved GPA.

The Mother of the Year award honors an outstanding mother in the Pasadena /Altadena community. This year's Mother of the Year is Dawna "Tai" Whaley, a member of the Eta Lambda Omega Chapter. On August 25, 2011, Tai's son, Joseph James Frazier, was in an accident. Every since, Tai has taken care of her son, the only way a mother knows how to do. In addition to her duties as a mom, Tai works as a Human Resources Consultant.

Fashionetta ® tickets are on sale now for $75.00 for adults and $35.00 for children. Ads, which will be seen by a captive audience of over 400 individuals with disposable income, are also available for purchase and start at $30.00. Proceeds go towards providing the honorees with scholarships and will also perpetuate the legacy of service of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Eta Lambda Omega chapter.
