Pasadena City Council Candidate John J. Kennedy To Host Campaign Kick-Off Event

Pasadena, CA — John J. Kennedy, the community candidate for election to Pasadena City Council's Third District, will kick off his official campaign for the position at an event to be held from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Saturday, January 12, at The Market on Holly, 57 E. Holly Street, Pasadena.

"I eagerly look forward to meeting as many people as possible, as I begin my campaign to make city government more accessible and relevant to every resident," Kennedy said. "I intend to bring 30 years of law-enforcement, corporate, civic, and foundation experience and leadership to bear on the issues that face us all in Pasadena."

Kennedy cited public safety, support for small business and job creation, transparency in government, better education, and oversight of utility rates as his top priorities. "I will work to make city government, especially the deliberations and decision-making of the council, more in touch with, and responsive to, people's needs and neighborhood concerns."

Kennedy is a former Deputy Police Chief of Richmond, Virginia, past Chair of the Pasadena Community Development Committee and the Community Health Alliance of Pasadena, Founder of the Pasadena Police Foundation, and community-outreach director at Southern California Edison. Currently, he is the senior vice president of a highly-respected 90 plus year old nonprofit that is dedicated to community transformation and workforce development - jobs.

"I feel that my entire professional and volunteer life has prepared me for service to the city I love and the people and businesses that make it such a special place in which to live, work and raise families," Kennedy said. "Saturday's event is, I hope, just the first step towards fulfilling that goal of giving back to my city. I am excited about meeting as many people as I can as I campaign, and explaining my message of change and achievement."
