The official Town Council election season has begun with the availability of Candidate Applications.
Application packets can be picked up at the Altadena Community Center; 730 East Altadena Drive, between the hours of 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday.
Completed Applications will need to be returned to the clerk at the Community Center along with a non-refundable Application fee of $35.00 by 5:00 pm May 10th. Candidates will need to have been residents for the last two years, and be registered voters in Los Angeles County.
A Candidate’s forum is scheduled for May 17th during the regular Town Council meeting.
Town Council consists of two representatives from each of the eight census tracts in Altadena, with each representative serving an alternating two-year term. Meeting the 3rd Tuesday each month, the Council’s 16 members are elected as an advisory body that communicates and coordinates residents’ needs with public agencies and to Supervisor Michael Antonovich of the Fifth District, Altadena’s official representative on the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors.
Any resident interested in serving their community as a town council representative is encouraged to pick up an application package and return it by May 10th. Census tract maps can be viewed at altadenatowncouncil.org.
