“Elyse Sharp’s Two True Passions: Running and Art”

African American news from Pasadena - Community - Elyse SharpElyse Leilani Sharp has two passions as a 14 year old in high school these days, and she excels at both. One is running. This year she made her debut in track earning MVP for her school as well as Soph-Frosh MVP of her League. She placed first in the 4x100, 4x400, 100 and 200 meter finals, earning four gold medals.

Elyse is equally passionate about her abilities as an artist. Working in oils, watercolor, and acrylics, she placed Best in Show at the Art@Pal Exhibit in 2009 with her "Sand Crab", at the early age of nine years old. Pasadena Police Chief, Phillip Sanchez, selected her piece in 2011 to adorn his city office. She was further honored to receive an audition for the California High School of Visual and Performing Arts at Cal State University at Los Angeles in 2013.
