Happy New Year!
I know that many of you sports fans doubted it, but we have made it through another year. When we look back, we can remember some of the great things that happened. Number one in my book was the reelection of President Obama. Romney was kind enough to tell us that he planned to make things even better for the wealthy and much tougher for those who were not. We believed him, and worked hard to see that he was not elected.
Santa was concerned about the happiness of the local Fans, so he revitalized the Clippers for us. We can thank him for Chris Paul and the other players who have joined together to make a winning team. They still need some growth, but they are fun to watch.
We can also thank him for UCLA's football team. Santa did not wait for Christmas to deliver on this one. No one ever believed that the Bruins would have a winning season, and wind up in the Holiday Bowl. UCLA is likely to be even better next year, since they have already received commitments from seven star linemen.
Apparently, Santa was not pleased with USC last year and they did not do as well as everyone expected. Let us all hope that they will mend their ways, and return to those glorious days of yesteryear.
David Shaw, head football coach of the Stanford Cardinal, will be rolling into town to lead his team against Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl. I do not know if he will get the Key to the city, but he already has the Keys to our hearts. I expect that Stanford will win easily and I am rooting for them to do just that. Stanford just extended his contract. This might have been the results of them hearing that some NFL teams were interested in hiring him.
NEW YEAR'S WISHES
- Speedy recoveries to Steve Nash, Grant Hill, and Chauncey Billups.
- That Lamar Odom buys his mojo, so that he may remain with the Clippers.
- That Dwight Howard and Blake Griffin learn how to shoot free throws.
- That Kobe Bryant stop scowling. It does not frighten anyone.
- That UCLA and USC win their Bowl Games.
- Health and happiness to all of you.
