Three Additional Schools Now Serving Children at Ten Locations
(Canoga Park, CA)— The Boys & Girls Club of the West Valley continues to expand its services and locations with agreements to offer its after-school programs to the students of Cantara Street Elementary School in Reseda. Additionally, Chatsworth High School in Chatsworth, and Cleveland High School in Reseda will now offer the Club's College Bound program, which helps students prepare for college and to plan for their future and to develop the necessary skills for their desired profession. Participants are introduced to the process of choosing and applying to universities, as well as financial aid and scholarships.
"I'm glad my kids will have the opportunity to have a program that will provide extra enrichment activities," says the Cantara Street Elementary School's Principal, Melanie Karabedian.
The Boys & Girls Club of the West Valley was founded in 1992 as a response to the local need for safe, healthy, productive activities for youths during non-school hours. There are more than 3,100 members of the Club. Approximately 150 children visit the Main Clubhouse in Canoga Park each day in addition to more than 550 children engaged in after-school activities at the Club's nine school sites: Blythe, Reseda, Cantara Street, and Topeka Drive Elementary Schools; Hale Charter Academy Middle School; Canoga Park, Chatsworth, and Cleveland High Schools; and the affordable housing community of Tierra del Sol.
