You Might Be a Racist If . . .

Comedian Jeff Foxworthy made it big when he wrote a book called, "You might be Redneck".  He cites examples of behavior that are, stereotypically, what he calls Redneck. One quote from his book is as follows: "Your neighbors think you're a detective because a cop always brings you home, you might be a redneck."

Another writer, Bertice Berry, wrote a book called, "You Might Be Ghetto If!".  Here's a quote from her book: "You know you're still Ghetto if you play the Lottery more regularly than you pay your bills."

After listening to Republican and Tea Party lies about President Obama where they made overt and subtle racist statements about him for the past three years, here are thoughts on the subject, in the format of Foxworthy and Berry.

  • You might be a racist if you are still saying that President Obama was born in Kenya.
  • You might be a racist if you believe that President Obama should show his birth certificate, but Mitt Romney shouldn't show his tax returns.
  • You might be a racist if you think that the voter reduction proposals of certain states' is not based on racism to keep Blacks, and poor, and disenfranchised citizens from voting for the First Black President.
  • You might be a racist if you believe that there are more Blacks on welfare than there are whites on it.
  • You might be a racist if you believe that Social Security and Medicare are entitlements rather than benefits that working people pay for out of their paychecks.
  • You might be a racist if you believe that the hands that built America were other than hard working Blacks, unpaid slaves, and underpaid victims of Jim Crow.
  • You might be a racist if you believe that racism is over since we have a Black President.
  • You might be a racist if you believe that only Blacks voted for Barack Obama.
  • You might be a racist if you believe that all Muslims are Terrorists.
  • You might be a racist if you believe that public schools in Black neighborhoods were designed to educate the children of Black Families equal to those in white neighborhoods.
  • You might be a racist if you believe that an education system based on vouchers to a selected few is better than improving the whole public education to educate all children.
  • You might be a racist if you believe that the Republicans are better for Black progress than the Democrats have been.
  • You might be a racist if you believe that the Republican Party did not work hard to keep President Obama's tenure from being a success.
  • You might be a racist if you ignore the successes of President Obama in health care, the automobile industry, ending the war, ending discrimination for women, ending discrimination for gay Americans, and extending education (Pell) grants.
  • You might be a racist if . . . (insert your own definition/s).
