Our bodies hold the stories of our lives. In this 3-class series you will embark on the journey of allowing each body part to come alive in full creative expression. We unravel the stories that lie within, exploring the relationship between the body parts, as we dive into creative discovery and find integration. You will learn to employ Halprin Life-Art Process tools of Tamalpa Institute, founded by the legendary Anna Halprin and co-founder, director, Daria Halprin. The Life-Art Process includes somatic movement, art-making, poetic dialogue/writing, sounding, creative reenactments, partner and group collaborations. We will work with image, metaphor, improvisation and meaning, in response to the compelling life themes that are present in our lives right now. "The truest expression of a people is in the dance, bodies never lie" (Martha Graham). Location: Avenue 50 Studio, 131 North Avenue 50, Highland Park, CA 90042 (323) 258-1435. There is an essential connection between art and life, which can facilitate healing and change. We are interested in a new aesthetic that reflects the here and now reality of peoples' authentic life experiences, rather than a beauty based on form or technique. For us it is our real life experiences that feed our art, and our art that informs the real issues in our lives. We call this the Life-Art Process. (Tamalpa Institute). "The soul speaks to us through the arts and creativity, through story and metaphor, through rich and often ancient symbols, and through expressing authentically with soma, the body. Continuum Movement facilitates intensive somatic healing and regenerative work, using breath and sound vibration to tap into the wisdom of the body. The Life-Art process offers us a universal template for understanding the creative language of the soul beautifully--the language of symbolic imagery, and poetry of movement, art, drama, dance and performance."
