"The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord upholdeth him with his hand." (Psalm 37: 23-24)
It was so tempting to cross that solid white line.
Was it so bad; would it be a crime?
I could get past that slow car and get there on time!
The Holy Spirit whispered, "Not now, stay behind."
Then the huge transit bus shot be on the left from the spot where I was blind.
I said, in my heart, "My God, you're so kind!"
Listening to, and obeying God, makes life so sublime.
They always read that story of Jacob's ladder to me.
One night, I saw a ladder in my sleep. Some may call it a vision that I did see.
What happened next really made me creep.
I saw myself running at a fast pace.
I saw my dream job and wanted it right away.
Though God said. "Yeah," I saw him put walls in my way.
I said, "God! I can't get there quickly this way!"
He responded back and said, "You must do it at my pace!"
I blurted out, "But, this makes me have to wait?"
I told Christ, "I can handle it today!"
God said, "There are several things I want to teach you along the way."
"There are others to whom you have to minister to with faith."
"You'll miss them if you get to your destination right away."
"There's also some maturing, in the Spirit, you must gain before I put this responsibility on your plate."
"Please do as I ask, and simply walk this life's highway, at my pace.
"Do it my way! Receive all that I have to say."
"Then you will be awesome, in the Lord, when you reach that hallowed job's place."
"And, for my Glory-You will be First-rate!"
"Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ." (2 Peter 1:1-8)
