This next in the series of successful and highly anticipated Business Mixers is scheduled for Thursday April 2nd, 2009, from 6 PM to 9 PM at The Maxwell House Mansion, 55 South Grand Ave, Pasadena Ca 91105. Admission is a $15.00 Donation, and no doubt this affair is poised to be another memory making, power networking opportunity between two very influential groups; the Faith Based and Business communities of the Greater Pasadena /San Gabriel Valley area. Maura will MC and perform along with the talents of Saxophonist Varetta Heidelberg and Gospel Recording Artist L.A.-J; each entertainer set to underscore an evening of celebration and recognition to iconic institutions like Woods-Valentine Mortuary (80+ Years in Business) and Friendship Baptist Church (116+ Year History of Service).
Maura brings the perfect balance for this affairs purpose and goal, which is to provide an informal, yet energy charged atmosphere for church and business to engage one other. Maura is a successful business woman and evangelist and will be able to relate well with the two entities; her résumé is impressive sporting such credits as author of "Anointed Agenda" and "Beyond Blessed." Maura recently premiered both of her Christian One Woman Shows - "SHE-SPEAKS" (biblical dramatizations of women of the Word) and "P.E.T.A.L.S" (Personal Encouraging Testimonies About Life's Struggles). She is the co-producer of "STEM" (a stage play) and an associate producer for "SOULMATE" (a singles film). She is called the 1st Lady of Spoken Word and has two CD's "Ear Candy" and "Ride Rosa Ride."
As an actress, she has hosted 2 Christian infomercials for Ever Increasing Faith TV and she co-starred in the ABC movie "Their Eyes Were Watching God" Starring Halle Berry, produced by Oprah Winfrey. Also you may have seen her on "Strong Medicine", "NYPD Blue", "Ally McBeal" or "City of Angels". Maura is a well-known voice over talent and can be heard on "The Bible Experience" starring Blair Underwood, Denzel Washington and many others, and her signature piece "Love Grows" was written for "Save our Future" an Essence Award Recipient.
In addition to Maura and the other forms of live entertainment, attendees will find the usual great food choices, impressive give-a-ways and door prizes, and a host of quality vendors on hand. Southern California Edison and the City of Pasadena's Enterprise Zone head up an excellent group of sponsors who have been generous even in the face of these economically challenging times. "And that's the point" says SGVBBA President Derrick Dancer, "We're desirous of a revisiting and rebirth of a time when churches and businesses were intentional supporters of one another, and there appears to be enough buy-in on both sides of the fence to perhaps get something worthwhile started here...
