at “Swearing In” Celebration Glendale Community College Hosts
Glendale, CA – Senator Anthony J. Portantino (D – La Cañada Flintridge), was given his ceremonial oath of ofﬁce by State Controller Betty T. Yee. Approximately 500 community members, elected officials, family and friends attended the swearing in ceremony hosted by Glendale Community College.
Local classic rock band, Misplaced Priorities entertained the crowd through lunch. The John Muir High School Drum Line called the program to order followed by the presentation of colors by the Blair High School Junior ROTC. The La Cañada High School Choral Ensemble sang the National Anthem and “God Bless America.”
Anita Quinonez Gabrielian, President of the Glendale Community College Board of Trustees, welcomed the crowd to the event. Sam Pedroza, Mayor of Claremont, served as the emcee and introduced Controller Yee. After his oath, Senator Portantino offered his vision and priorities for the coming term and expressed his desire to set the mark in constituent services. “Education is my number one priority. It is time to put our children ﬁrst,” said Senator Portantino. “My ability to be an effective leader in Sacramento comes from the support I have here at home. I will continue to be an advocate for our communities as my terriﬁc staff sets the gold standard in constituent services,” concluded the Senator.

Portantino represents nearly 930,000 people in the 25th Senate District, which includes Altadena, Atwater Village, Bradbury, Burbank, Claremont, Duarte, Glendale, Glendora, La Cañada Flintridge, La Crescenta, La Verne, Monrovia, Montrose, Pasadena, San Dimas, San Marino, Shadow Hills, Sierra Madre, South Pasadena, Sunland-Tujunga, and Upland.
